BMW proves its dominance in sales as it exceeded last year’s tally by selling more than 177,000 vehicles in China. With the help of models such as the BMW 7 series sedan, which recorded a 32 percent increase in sales by having 24,000 units sold in the first nine months of this year, BMW continues its dominance in the upscale large sedan section. With the increasing demand for superior SUVs, the BMW was able to sell 34,400 units in the first nine months of the year, marking a significant 33 percent increase compared to last year’s sales in the same time period.
Having 250 dealerships in China and counting, BMW has gained a lot of profits after it made a decision to create a franchise in small cities in the past three years. According to BMW Brilliance Automotive Senior Vice-President Daniel Kirchert, the Bavarian car maker has profited a lot since it made this strategic decision. Adding to that, the BMW was the first luxury car to have a business establishment in 30 cities in China. As part of the continuing plan, BMW is currently building ten more big establishments in major cities such as Nanchong, Yibing and Panzhihua, which is located in the province of Sischuan in Southwest China.
With the capability of producing 75,000 models of Sedan Series 3 and Series 5, the company is planning to make its unit production to reach more than 100,000 units. There is also a plan to build a new, state-of-the-art auto factory which will have a yearly capacity of more than 200,000 units.
